I will be appearing at the FARMER'S MARKET at Veteran's Park in Cañon City on Wednesdays starting June 3rd, thorugh October 1st, 2009!
I will be playing keyboards in the bandshell in the park from about 9:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.
Yep, that's A.M. all right! It's quite a challenge to get there bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, but I find I really enjoy it!

Welcome to Ted Shinn’s
website!
Dear Folks,
A hearty thank you for stopping by my website today, however it is possible that you found me.
My new album {released in March 2009} is entitled, "Lonely Drive Home" and is now available at CDBaby. All you need do is simply click on the album thumbnail to navigate directly to them. You can hear samples of all of the songs.
A quick word about this album: My brother Patrick lends insightful, thoughtful, and often times searing guitar work on this collection. I wrote this album from October 30th through December 31st, 2008 and to have it out so soon is really unprecedented for me!
Inspiration really does speed up the process considerably, if I may say so!
The summer is upon us and I'm appearing every Wednesday at the Farmer's Market at Veteran's Park from about 9:00 in the mornin' to 11:30ish.
I have to say I pretty much enjoy it on a variety of levels and for a number of reasons. Firstly, no club owners to dictate what they think you should be playing. Secondly, since it's outdoors, there hasn't yet been one person tell me to "turn it down!" Thirdly, I love playing outside in the sun and meeting all kinds of different people. That's really the cream in my coffee for me!
As a side note, Jonas Ceelan did custom inlays on my guitars last summer, and they are out of this world. Be sure to click on his button on the top of the page for a tour of his guitar studio! Pictures of his inlays are on my MySpace page (the link is below).

Hey there!
Once again I rocked the park today at the Farmer's Market.
What a fun gig!
Although it wasn't so fun last week... Let me explain!
You see, it was simply too hot last week. I set up right in the sunshine and it got up to 90 degrees last week. Well, the equipment is primarily black and it absorbs heat. I have a thermometer on the equipment and it said 117 degrees! My drum machine simply blacked it's LED out... it was gone. Fortunately, I shut it off before it totally died and it seems to be fine.
Anyway, today there was no such heat stroke for the equipment, and I really sounded good and more importantly,
where I performed (in the shade!!) you could actually HEAR my music.
That's especially important to me, because usually the first order of business at ANY gig I play is to have someone march right over and tell me to turn it down! (Even when I play outside, isn't that a kick?)
There was no such crisis today, so I was on center.
I believe I'll bask in the knowledge I did as good a job as I possibly could.

| Thai Coconut Curry Brown Rice! |

This is a delicious addition to your meal... I hope you like it!
Steam some organic brown rice to your desired doneness--I use one cup rice to two cups water.
Add:
*A 1/2 can of organic coconut milk
*1 to 2 tablespoons of organic brown sugar
*1/2 to 1 teaspoon green curry paste
*1/4 teaspoon tamari or soy sauce
*1/4 cup chopped basil
*Freshly cracked black pepper
Stir in these ingredients and that''s all there is to it. It's exotic, delicious, and different.
I place the rice on a bed of organic greens with other goodies in the greens like blueberries, sweet onions, sprouts, pumpkin seeds, goat cheese, cherry tomatoes. This is delicious as it is!
If I'm especially hungry, I steam some white fish with rice wine, shitake mushrooms, scallions, and a little soy sauce. I place the fish on top of the rice and on top of the greens.
Try it, you'll LOVE it!

| Ted's Cake Mix Cookie Recipe! |

Here's the recipe for great tasting and easy cookies:
Simply take any cake mix (except Angel Food) and add two eggs, 1/2 cup of oil and a tablespoon of flour.
Mix together, add your favorite ingredients whether it be chocolate chips, coconut, dried fruits, nuts or whatever. Some times, the more exotic the add-ins and the stranger the cake mix, the better they are!
Bake at 350 degree oven for just 10 minutes.
